OFF THE RAILS was a fashion show that aired on RTÉ for the better part of thirteen years.
And though it may be gone off the air, we still have fond memories of it.
1. For one thing, it was the most gloriously 2000s show ever
Off The Rails debuted on our screens in 2000, meaning that it touched on all those cringey 2000s trends we wish we could forget.
Look at these two gals admiring their sparkly jewel-encrusted mobile phones. It doesn’t get more early noughties than that.

2. It educated a whole generation of gals on all things style and beauty

3. It introduced us to gals like Liz Bonnin, Caroline Morahan and Pamela Flood
In the early 2000s, they were the queens of Ireland telling us peasants how to take a look from day to night. Miss you, gals.

4. The makeover segments were to ~die for~
“Ah, what have they put her in?” followed by, “Ah, she actually looks lovely in fairness. Look at her, she’s delighted.”
Whenever they asked viewers to nominate friends and family for a makeover, you always threatened to send your Mam’s name in. “Don’t you dare,” she warned, while secretly hoping you would.

5. The best part of the makeovers? It was inevitable that you would see someone you know on them at some stage
That’s Ireland for you.
6. And the celebrity segments were both entertaining and illuminating
“Oh, of course she uses Creme de la Mer. It’s well for some, isn’t it?”

7. And who can forget the Off The Rails live shows?
A big-budget affair, as you can probably tell from this promotional photo.
You always secretly wanted to go because you heard something about ‘goody bags’.

8. Let’s take a moment to appreciate some of the clothes modeled at the Off The Rails live show, shall we?
Those jean pockets just scream 2004.

It’s called fashion. You wouldn’t get it.

9. And finally, let’s give it up for that theme song
Off the rails, off the rails, off the rails…
